Higher Level Apprenticeship Scheme: 2019/20 Part-time Undergraduate course

We offer opportunities for new apprentices in the Level 4/5 Higher Level Apprenticeship scheme in Accounting and Computing. Southern Regional College has developed these two courses in Accounting and Computing, working in partnership with FD, developing a programme which offers students the opportunity to take this degree as part of a Higher Level Apprenticeship Programme.

Entry Requirements:


  • Possess a minimum grade B in GCSE Maths and grade C in GCSE English (or University approved equivalent*)
  • Have obtained a Level 3/A level or equivalent qualification equating to 96 UCAS points
  • Secure employment with an approved employer who will support you through the HLA programme


  • Have obtained a Level 3 or equivalent qualification equating to 56 UCAS points.
  • Possess a minimum Grade C in GCSE Mathematics, English (or University approved equivalent*)
  • Secure employment with an approved employer who will support you through the HLA programme

Please note that this criteria may be further enhanced by FD and short-listed applicants will also be interviewed by the us prior to the offer of employment.

How much are my tutition fees?

There are no costs incurred as this is funded by the Department for the Economy through their apprenticeship funding framework.


  • Full time employment with FD or for the right candidate.
  • HLA Computing – progression grade dependent – FD may support the candidate’s direct entry with advanced standing to the BSc Hons Computing Systems (part-time) at Ulster University – Jordanstown Campus
  • First Derivatives FinTECH HLA (criteria for entry will apply)
  • HLA Accountancy –FD may support the candidate to work towards CAP 1 professional accountancy exams

Application Process:

All applicants must apply through the Southern Regional Website.

Each applicant must also complete the “Employer Additional Information Form (EAI)” as part of their online application. FD will then use the “Employer Additional Information Form” to shortlist the applicants who meet the qualification criteria. Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed, and if successful, offered a place on the Higher Level Apprenticeship.
